It is important to understand the soil temperatures and air temperatures when planting cool crops. Timing will vary garden to garden but this is what they like. Any cool crop prefers 50 degree soil and 70 degree days, generally speaking. And broccoli needs a prolong period of cool soil temperature to form nice crowns.
