Hmm first off WOW what a stunning 🤩 beautiful flower/picture/butterfly! That doesn’t look like a monarch from the tan and white spots there…you must be out west maybe? Look up your area butterflies or do google lens in this beauty maybe? Sorry I get so into this I love it!

That is a moth like animal. Not monarch

Gulf fritillary. Its host plant is passion Vine. If you have one planted look for the orange caterpillars with black spikes. They will eat some of the foliage on the passion vine but are great pollinators.

Sorry thats not a monarch. It is another type of butterfly though. Monarchs are know for big orange wings lined with black and freckled with white. This guy is a nit too small. Still cute though q

LOL. Me too! They seem to love zinnias because in my garden it was fluttering all over the zinnias. Like yours. I’m in central CA where are you?

I don’t think that’s a monarch, though it’s just as pretty and important

Ok so you can buy on Etsy a “butterflies of _____” poster for your state and it’s a super cute piece of art that has all the local butterflies on it! I got one for Michigan and I’ve been using it to identify the lil babies in my butterfly garden- it hangs in my office I love bringing some of the outside inside
