Most songbirds will have a second hatch if the first hatch fails or is early enough. I regularly get two hatches for the bluebirds in my yard

The one on the right looks like an angry 90s gym teacher.

I had the honor of “hosting” a family of robins and cardinals in my yard this summer, and I was lucky enough to see when both sets of fledglings left their nests. I had never before seen cardinals at this stage in life, and I was impressed with mom and dad. They were extremely attentive and protective (as were the robins)!

Some nests fail causing a second but late nest for the pair. These guys are fledglings so they should be almost independent.
