For reference, he was pretty big 4-5 inches long and 1/2″ wide (sorry I didn’t have a banana for scale). He trucked up that tree quickly from the time I took that picture to above my head while posting photo (traveled about 5 ft in a matter of minutes)

Could be one of the silk moth caterpillars if you’re in the US.
