I am a member of some mycology groups on Reddit, they are pretty good.
All of the mushroom forums I have seen over the years are garbage with some horrible moderation by some very narcissistic and toxic people.
The reddit groups are far superior.
I like mycology and growing mushrooms is fun.
It is also far easier than most people tend to think and more people should try it.
A friend of mine grows mushrooms for medicinal extracts and gourmet restaurants.
I’ve been considering growing *Cordyceps*.

Yes, me me me! Ive always been interested since my father cooked us omajowa(termitomyces schimperi) in my childhood. Tasted like chicken and its huge. So much food and medicine locked in the fungi chest of knowledge.

what is the minimum setup required to get started growing mushrooms? How much does that cost? and most importantly what do they grow in and where do you find it(ie what type of soil)? I would love to grow mushrooms but all the youtube videos make it look like you need a lab. I just want some mushrooms for me and my wife, im not trying to feed the masses,lol.

I was gifted Shiitake plugs a little over 1 year ago, and followed directions to put them in as many logs as we could find. Still haven’t gotten the harvest yet.
