Hi guys. We had this arbor built (link below has photo) with the plan of maybe growing wisteria or clematis or some other type of vine to green it up and maybe add overhead shade. Now, some people have mentioned that wisteria will totally take over and eat my house. Please advise on any and all viney plants you might recommend for my setting. I can set pots or containers next to each post or I can cut squares into the floor, (there’s dirt underneath). I can also attach lattice or string wires for vines to grab onto. I live in Philadelphia PA. Thanks in advance for any and all help you can provide! Greg

We recommend Morning Glories, Moonflower, Climbing Hydrangea, or Bower Vine!
I like something with use other than just shade and cover, passion fruit vines are great, grape vines likewise, kiwis need special love and attention, gooseberry will swallow your yard( does not attach/climb), black and raspberry might be a bit stabby or messy fruit stains, dragon fruit is hardy climbs great but gives little cover. Also doesn’t have to be just that one thing.
Avoid Chinese wisteria. American wisteria is much tamer and can be safely used.
