fungus gnats are a bummer i put a layer of cinnamon on top of the soil for any plants that have them!

Mosquito dunks/bits will kill fungus gnats. Also, water your cactus less if the soil is moist enough to support fungus gnats.

That plant you have can go forever without watering so don’t water. Spray the soil with some insecticide for house plants and put a new yellow sticky stick and they’ll be gone in a few days

This is always a pain. The good news is there are many options, some of which are already mentioned in the comments, to get rid of them. First, you can stop watering for an extended period of time and that will interrupt the life cycle. Another option is to leave soapy water nearby and they will be attracted and drown. One other option is to place potato wedges in the soil to attract the larvae and then throw them away. We have had good success with all of these or a combination of them. Over watering always makes it worse.

Mostly just water less. Cactus can go quite a long time without watering. Also may want to switch to a terracotta pot. I noticed succulents and cactus do much better in the more porous containers. Happy gardening 😊🌿

Are they fungus gnats, maybe? Are you letting the soil dry out before watering? It can happen with overwatering. If you’re using brand new soil, also check to see if that’s where they’re coming from.

Use a layer of sand above the dirt. Try watering less and using neem oil. For me what worked the best is to water way less.
