WTF was I thinking this March. One of these is going to be enough for 5 gallons of hot sauce!

I have grown reapers 3 years now, not congruent. Your plant is very impressive. I also think your math is correct. 1 reaper can make 5 gallons of salsa. Now we have to guess how many peppers are on that one plant.

I put just one of these chilis in with with just sauteed onion and tomatillos at about 1:1 & some extra olive oil and made 3 pints of hot sauce. Pretty good. Would do it again.

I heard you can make a pretty good deer repellent with hot peppers.

Real question here: how thick is that layer of wine corks? Never thought about using them like that but I guess it could kind of act like mulch on a raised bed.

Such a beautiful little pot of pure hate…err heat

  6. I dehydrate mine and then grind them into powder. Give small amounts away to friends to spice up their chilis…or kill their spouses. 👹

Dry them out (oven set at 200°/250°f. Put the peppers on a tray and put in the preheated oven. Turn off oven after 15-20 minutes and leave in there overnight.

You can powder them and use to spice everything.

I got zero reapers this year and my 4 habanero plants are covered in green Chili’s that just won’t turn.

Maybe 1 in a gallon will get you to a warm medium

Honestly I’m always like but yeah who needs all that when isee big property harvests.

I have 2 habanero plants and… it’s just way too much lol. Have made enough hot sauce for about a year and both are nearly full at the moment. Suppose I’ll make some jelly next.

You can cut the heat with some sugar, I fermented scorpion peppers with carrots I grew and that balanced out some of the heat, still a very hot hot sauce.

Are those Carolina Reapers? Be still my heart, what a beautiful plant.
