These nasty insects are eating my tomatoes! Anyone know what they are? They look quite similar to the Japanese beetle but I can confirm they are not— they have a fuzzy texture about them and are somewhat larger than the Japanese beetle. Quite the nasty pests to discover in my beloved garden! I live in Colorado if that helps.

Can we all just be thankful bugs are small? Imagine that thing dog sized.

There is an app called Picture Insect that helps you identify an insect. You just take a photo of the insect you wish to identify and it tells you what it is. It surprisingly has worked correctly for me the 9 or 10 times I have used it. It’s free. Just cancel the first page that asks you to pay and it opens up the app for free use. Good Luck.

They’re selfish for eating the fruits of your labor, but I actually think bumble beetles are kinda cute! I’d much rather stumble upon these guys than hornworms… 🤢

If nothing is eating your vegetable garden, then it’s not part of the ecosystem!

Gross… the pests have been getting worse and worse in my garden. Especially cucumber beetles. I haven’t had a cuke harvest in 3 years

Those are Larry, Rusty, and Jim. Good guys. Terrible manners.

They look like turtles – I don’t know what that says about me, or my eyesight 😆

Am I the only one who noticed the tomato has a thick ass?

Bumble Flower Beetles. They pretty much only eat fruits and veggies that have already been damaged. If you are growing corn, you might want to check to make sure they haven’t gotten in there.

Honestly, just pick any damaged tomatoes and throw them in compost or however you want to get rid of them. These dudes aren’t really major pests and can be pretty efficient in your compost bin.
