Removing yellowed leaves is a normal part of plant parenthood. Plant care advice is often too one-sided in that it’s always your fault and only one cause (e.g. “overwatering”). This causes panic among new plant owners when one leaf yellows. Whether you consider me a good or bad plant parent, let me share with you how often these plants have needed leaf removal (but remember that this is based on so many factors like lighting, watering, temperature, etc. so take this as a personal story):
Peace Lily: once every 2-4 weeks
Pothos marble queen: once every 2-3 weeks
Philodendron silver: once every 3-4 weeks
Staghorn fern: once every 3-4 months
Maranta leuconeura: once every 2-3 weeks
Aglaonema: once every 2-3 months
Pilea peperomioides: once every 2-3 weeks (but I’m slightly concerned about this one because it hasn’t put out a new leaf in a while AND it wasn’t potted professionally)
