This Morning presenter Ben Sheppard heaped praise on Nuneaton’s viral firefighting gardener when he appeared on today’s show. Jonny Hincks led a special gardening section live on the popular ITV show at lunchtime today (April 13).
The Nuneaton firefighter’s ‘Garden with Jonny’ channel has 1.9 million followers on Instagram, 1.6 million followers on Facebook and 750,000 followers on TikTok. His tongue-in-cheek videos on gardening has earned him national acclaim – scooping the Lifestyle bCreator of the Year category in the ITV Creator Awards last year.
Now he can add TV presenter to his CV, having led a section on April planting live on the TV show. Audiences were shown a reel of some of his most famous social media clips before the segment got underway.

It led to presenter Ben Shephard saying: “What I love about your videos and I would urge anyone to follow Jonny online, is that you have so much fun in what you are doing,” to which fellow presenter Cat Deeley: “Oh yeah’.”.
The local dad of two replied:” If I didn’t have the followers I would still do exactly the same, it’s become a hobby, creating videos and having fun in my garden.”

They chatted about his ‘day job’ as a firefighter at the Newtown Road-based station and he joked with the presenters:” I had one of the lads (from the station) message me to say ‘I cannot believe they are letting you loose on live TV!'”
During the section, he did his trademark ‘soil sprinkling’ and also promised the presenters he would test the ‘tulips in egg box’ planting and post a video on it.
His earpiece also fell out several times, to which Ben Shephard joked ‘don’t plant it!’

The former gym instructor’s first ITV This Morning section comes as his debut book ‘Garden Yourself Happy’ has hit the shelves across the country.
The Sunday Times bestseller is due to make a number of appearances at gardening shows but, not forgetting his roots, he is due to host an ‘evening with’ at Nuneaton Waterstones on Wednesday (April 15).
