Been living here for over ten years and have never seen this film before. My dogs swim in it and it feeds the spring house that my home gets its water from. It isn’t iridescent like oil would be but still. I can’t recall ever seeing this.

Sometimes water looks like this when it gets a lot of pollen in it, though maybe more yellow

Water testing isn’t too expensive. Might be worth it just for the peace of mind.

Don’t any of you see the snorkel? The man has a ninja waiting for him under the water. As soon as his back is turned , he will be assassinated. Quick man grab a wasp nest and slap it into the pipe. It’s the only way.

It could absolutely be pollen but this also looks like… well when things die and bloat then float they can leave grease stains on the water. This is unfortunately something I’ve encountered while paddling. I would check your watershed to make sure this isn’t the case. Again, it is really most likely pollen.
