We got this Columbine 10 years ago as a free leftover from a plant swap in our neighborhood when we first moved in. We had to get rid of the plant maybe 3-4 years ago as our dog is practically half cow and will go graze on anything he can get his mouth on outside.

I lost my wife at 35 in January. I'm looking to bring back some memories, so finding the exact variety is important to me. The picture is pretty accurate to what I remember. The flowers never really hung downwards, they were always outward facing. The colors were very uniform, no two real two tone. The flower facing the camera is what I remember the color mostly being, a pink with just a hair of purple.

Any help in finding this specific variety would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

First and foremost, I am truly sorry for your loss. Life throws unexpected challenges at us, and the wrong people tend to leave this earth earlier than they should.

This is going to be a bit challenging because columbines hybridize quite easily, and you may have gotten a plant that grew from seed and is no longer the original cultivar.

That being said, this most resembles a near-true Aquilegia vulgaris columbine (similar to image I attached), given the morphology of the flowers and how muted the color is.

I wish I could offer more help, but the nature of columbines makes this tricky.
