Has anyone ever seen this before? Where the strawberries set defectively? All Albion plants.

Its been on 6 of my plants, all in the same area, all year. It hasn't spread to any others. The plants in question are very large and otherwise healthy looking but haven't set any fruit at all this season! All the other plants in the immediate area have done very well.

TIA

Not pollinated properly. Strawberry flowers are weird, and need to be pollinated evenly for the strawberry to develop.

If a pollinator doesn’t touch it at all, it will eventually turn brown like that and the flower will die without producing fruit.

Can you take close up photos of the flowers in full bloom? The one in the photo looks like it has very short stamens, or very few of them (read: not a lot of pollen which could explain the spotty pollination).

I’ve had strawberry flowers with no stamens at all so I got zero fruit.
