Saw these while taking a walk in my yard earlier. I can’t remember if I saw them last year or not. As far as I know, the soil is acidic and moist, and the Light is dappled shade. But, are these wild strawberry, mock strawberry, or something to be excited about. The leaves are very pretty and a lot larger than any mock strawberry Ive ever seen one set in particular is a lot bigger than it looks on the photo so they must be very happy. They’ve spread over an area under the pines about 20 feet and the deer havent gotten to them yet.

Zone 6b or 7a (really both some websites and people consider it 7a some 6b) southern West Virginia.

I think it has to be wild strawberry! And if by excited you are looking forward to seeing the area covered in it without control, then just wait a few months 🙂

Yes! Love this plant. I have lots in zone 5b but it’s just been uncovered from snow
