I’m in zone 8a. I have a patch of garlic in garden. It’s a mix of native soil and compost. I planted those around November. That’s a local type that need planting before winter.

March was warm and dry, April is cold and rainy. There was lots of weeds between the plants. I was late to clean them.

I saw that almost half of my garlics started to curl and looks like something ate them. Does anybody have any idea about what’s happening?

The one thing garlic doesn’t like is competition. I had some dried leaves in top of mine as mulch too long. Most made it up to the sunlight, but the ones that didn’t are curled and yellowed. Get in there are pull ALL of the weeds. You should see some improvement in a month.

Don’t have an answer for you, but lurking anyway because I’ve got overwintered garlic too.

Might be allium leaf miner unfortunately. Or leek moth. Both are a massive pain in the ass, but at least BTk gets rid of the moth.
