I just went to check and some of my trees, peaches, have slightly swelled buds/I can see the petals swelling, no leaves yet. Is it too late now?
I missed my window, now what?
My peaches are already fruiting .Nectarines haven’t started fruiting. Asian pear looks awful dead in the flowering area help
Is it 3 gallons of water your mixing it with?
Thats a wild amount of constraints… i live in the same garden zone as him and our trees have not only broken dormancy… they did that a month ago… and our spring is nothing but strong winds and large swings from warm to below freezing. Like for us we would have to do this in February… but then it would likely be too cold….
I live in Michigan zone 6b and almost all of my trees except for for my persimmon have broken dormancy. 🙁
Luke, how frequently do we spray (eg once? every 2 weeks? etc)?
This video would have been helpful a month ago. Our trees are coming out of dormancy. What can we do now?
By "breaking bud" do you mean before the bud opens or before it has all its buds?
How about cleaning out the sprayer and cleaner? Neem oil clogs for me and leaves a yucky film in the container.
I was going to spray yesterday…15 c but extremely windy in Canada…today rain. I think I will be able to do it tomorrow morning. They are calling for alot rain all next week.
Mineral Oil is all you need. Period.
I spray my peaches and nectarines with copper sulfate. I did not know I could spray all fruit trees with copper sulfate.
My brother's apple tree is doing fine without spraying. I just planted an apple tree a month ago. The buds are just coming out. It is more for the wildlife than for us – although I do hope to get a few apples from it.
Luke, please address these problems-I live in your zone in NC and my trees have all broken dormancy, too. Little buds all over. Can I still spray?
Horticultural oil mixed with copper that works great
In what world can you get the perfect timing? Not where I live
Let's see, we're expecting a low of 19 on Thurs, ALL of the fruit trees are in full bloom or have small fruits already, and our highs before it is supposed to start snowing again(we need the snow) on Thursday has been in the upper 60s. Sounds like spraying can be pretty detrimental this year. I'm in zone 5b. This year has been so abnormally dry and warm. The snow and 19 low is normal. What isn't normal is the bees being out and the trees starting fruit set this early
What is the base? Is it water or what?
Appreciate the tips. ❤
Also yall if you watch his video from 6days ago it was snowing, give em a break sheesh …free tips with reason and he even shows you ! 🎉✌️🩷🕯⚖️
Great explanation of dormant oil's purpose (didn't know insects winter over in the bark of fruit trees)
And… your seeds are so popular, all the influencers I watch are using them, and ME TOO! Gotta check out your store up in Port Huron.
no thanks.
Thank you for doing this at your home, and the backyard like most of us. Most of us don’t have the wonderful acreage that you do for your Orchard. Blessings to you and I’m happy for you but seeing this in the backyard helps to make it more applicable I think to more of us with the backyard, Orchard
Any chance this will help prevent white pine blister rust on gooseberries?
What can I do for my pecan trees. My trees are over 20' tall.
Can we spray them in the fall? I have already missed the spring spraying. And as always, I learn a lot for you so thanks.
thank u for all the tips u are giving us Luke! i do not have those 2 items on hand right now & my fryit trees are breaking out from dormancy, what i have is the Captain Jack's Deadbug, is that as good as what u are using on this video? please advice thanks! 😊
When spraying copper fungicide: You should use protective eye wear like goggles. And wear gloves and a mask. Copper sulfate can cause severe eye irritation. Exposure to copper sulfate can lead to nausea, vomiting, and damage to body tissues, blood cells, the liver, and kidneys. With extreme exposures, shock and death can occur. Copper Sulfate has been linked to kidney cancer although it hasn’t been given a carcinogen rating yet. It takes 2 weeks to a month for your body to remove excess copper from your system. Copper is also highly toxic to aquatic life like fish and snails and worms in your soil. Copper can accumulate in soil over time and make your soil toxic to beneficial creatures required for healthy soil. It’s considered organic … but so is arsenic and lead. Use sparingly only if needed and use protection.
Our trees budded in December even though we live in Missouri
Luke is their a substitute I can spray? I missed my window. Thanks
i spray but i work full time so it's always windy when i have some time 🤦♀️
LoL I was going to ask about pear. What about nuts trees?
What do I do? If I miss the window? Is there anything I can do to help my trees? Is it worth worthless to spray them after they’ve already budded?
Like most others, this is too late for this year! All of our buds have broken and the temperature is above 50. Can you repost this next year in February so we can all get prepped for March?
This dude sells rotten and moldy plants and doesn’t seem to prioritize refunding or replacing them, so enjoy your rot and mold.
Did he mix with water? It suddenly became a 3 gallon spray mix.
Evidently here in Pennsylvania I have missed my window. Our weather has been like a roller coaster all my asparagus and hostas have been taken out by Frost. One day we're 76° and the next day we're below freezing. Fruit trees are already setting flowers. 😢 It's been a really bad year.
‘ Spray baby spray ‘ I like the whole heartiness of covering every part of the trees but the video was in my time line posted up 5hrs ago , this is a next year video.
You should have posted this video over a month an half ago so viewers would be ready to get this job done.
It’s to late now as most trees have started breaking bud .
We have a saying here ‘ don’t try closing the stable door when the horse has already bolted ‘ you posted this way to late to be any good this year, maybe we can dig this video out for early next year but thank you for trying to help us.
ok thanks!! still got snow, and still in a minus … so I got time!! Hate wormy apples !!
I do mine the first warm day in February
How to apply to really tall apple trees?
