We have an acer and a half, and at least a third of it is covered in clover. Most of it is a clover/grass mix but there are spots where it completely takes over. The smell is wonderful. I'm hoping to expand it to the rest of the yard.

The image is of a white clover yard. We are in Zone 8b.

  2. Looks wonderful, next step would be an area that has a lot more native flowers so that you can add a lot of biodiversity.

Imagine a half acre of a native meadow mix that has 10X the ecological benefit!

I also love your clover yard! We have a small patch in a townhouse development, and when I first moved here the patch was in really bad shape. Some neighbours came to me as I was tending to it with offers of grass seed and chemical pellets, I said “no thanks.

Instead, I outright planted it all with clover. Looks pretty, drought tolerant, cut in maybe once or twice a year, low ground cover for small animals and insects, fixes nitrogen into the soil, rabbits come to munch on it, what’s not to love??

For a moment, I was genuinely confused why you had half a maple and why that maple was covered in clover.
