More than 40 people attended a community event at a garden centre in Failsworth celebrating women working in and entering the horticulture sector.
The event took place on Tuesday 7 April at J Parker’s garden centre in Daisy Nook and focused on encouraging more women into horticulture while building local connections.
Attendees from across Greater Manchester heard from three speakers who shared their experiences of working in the sector and the challenges they have faced.
The session was led by Victoria Holden, director of Oldham based social enterprise Northern Lily. She was joined by Helen Waddington, director of services at horticultural charity Perennial, and Nina Agnew, a community gardening advisor for the Royal Horticultural Society.
Organisers said the event provided an opportunity for those already working in horticulture and those considering entering the industry to network and gain practical insight.
The free session forms part of a wider programme of workshops, talks and community events planned at the site over the coming year.
