Anything I can do potentially save my Banksia Spinulosas? They were doing really well for the first 4 months across summer in their big pots, but all of a sudden they are dying back terribly and all the leaves are falling off. Any ideas what the issue might be?

It needs aloe vera gel for its burn !
From experience, once delicate plants like Banksia start declining like this, it’s already too late.
We don’t know anything about where you live, amount of sunlight, soil type etc at all. It was save a lot of misinformation and reply posters time and effort if you included it in your OP.
My money is on:
**Over watering/poor draininage:** See the moss growing the pot. Banksia like free draining soil with is sandy and loamy with maybe some clay. They normally like to dry out between waters.
**Pot size:** too small. Remember this is a 1-3m sized plant.
**Fertilizer:** Banksia are very sensitive to phosphorus in fertilizer and best advise is to apply even native fertilizer sparingly and only if needed. In your pot, I see quite a lot of slow release fertilizer sitting on top of the soil.
What type of potting mix did you use in your pots? Regular potting mix shouldn’t be used as it normally has fertilizer additives that are not suitable for Banksia.
