Hi alocasia people— I have this Bisma Platinum Aurea I got back in October. It had root rot so i tried to save it by cleaning it off, spraying with diluted h2o2 and then rooting in moss/perlite and dome. It started rooting but i accidentally forgot to “burp” my dome when I was really sick back in December so I got another root rot. I did the same thing, cleaned it off etc and got a fresh moss perlite dome method. I’ve usually had 99.9% success using this method. However, this time, the moss/perlite is drying a little faster than usual so roots never formed. It’s been 4 months and there are still no new roots. I do see, however, 2 “eyes” or growth points. My question is, should i try to root it again in moss perlite dome as a whole chonk? Switch to stratum perlite dome? Or, as others, recommend, chop it into 2-3 chonks and root separately?
It’s about 3-4inches long, and quite thick.
I’ve had an experience with cutting a chonk before (rescued Alocasia dragon’s breath albo). Last time it had root rot that creeped into the corm. So i tried to cut the rot off, but the chonk kept rotting until I had nothing left so I have a little trauma from that lol.
Curious to see what you would so?
Please be kind, I’m an experienced collector but I’m also continuously learning.
Thank you in advance!
