The Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club hosted a successful Prospective Member Luncheon, “Lunch & Learn,” on Saturday, March 28, at the Secret Garden, welcoming approximately 60 guests from the community.
A highlight of the afternoon was a presentation by Mario DeMatteo—author, poet, co-founder and executive director of The Agrarian Institute, an educational farm dedicated to empowering the community through hands-on farming and backyard gardening education, local food relief, and ecological restoration, according to a news release.
DeMatteo captivated the audience as he shared his personal story, the origins of The Agrarian Institute, and how support from the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club’s grant program has helped advance his organization’s work. To date, the club has awarded more than $1 million in grants to organizations throughout San Diego County, the news release stated.
The Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club brings together a passion for gardening with education, community connection, and purposeful giving. Through speaker programs, workshops, garden visits, and special events, members engage in enriching experiences while supporting local horticulture, conservation, and community-based initiatives.
Membership is open to all—individuals do not need to reside in Rancho Santa Fe to join and registration is available online.
