Hampshire gardens are taking centre stage at this year’s BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair.

Taking place at Beaulieu from May 1 to 3, the gardens include Showcase Gardens and Beautiful Borders created by designers, charities, and horticulturists from around the county.

Romsey’s Hillier Garden Centres and Nurseries return as headline sponsor for the sixth year and will present their vibrant Neighbourhood of Gardens, which features four themed areas: Family, Potted, Cottage, and Urban Jungle.

Bursledon designer Vicky Lincoln and Rob Woodhouse of Solent Garden Services in Hamble have created Nature’s Spa, a wellbeing garden inspired by William Wordsworth’s poem Lines Written in Spring.

In the Beautiful Borders, seven Hampshire teams are taking part.

New Forest designer Claire Booth, in collaboration with Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington, has designed Bob’s Full Circle, a tribute to her journey after breast cancer and the support she received from Oakhaven as an outpatient.

New Forest Day Opportunities and Minstead Trust have created A Garden of Many Hands, inspired by a folk tale about the origins of Furzey Gardens. After the fair, the border will be rebuilt at Furzey Gardens.

Southampton designer Katy Pomeroy’s entry for Diabetes UK, titled Navigating the Jungle of Diabetes, represents the uncertain journey from diagnosis, through learning how to understand and adapt to the condition, to a place of knowledge, support and hope from healthcare teams and loved ones to a place of clarity and confidence.

Students from Sir Harold Hillier Gardens have produced From Discovery to Legacy, honouring plant collector Sir Harold Hillier.

James Burness of Eastleigh has designed Enchanted Garden, inspired by childhood woodland walks, while Helen Hutchings Cox of North Baddesley has created A Garden for All, blending vegetables, flowers, and habitats into one holistic space.

Lucy Ashworth, event director at Immediate Live, organisers of the BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair, said: “The Showcase Gardens and Beautiful Borders are always a major highlight at the Spring Fair and create a real buzz.

“Visitors flock to them for ideas and inspiration to take home, whether it’s a clever design feature, an eye-catching colour palette, or an exciting new plant.”

In addition to the gardens, the fair will feature live talks, specialist nurseries, workshops, garden tours, and activities for children.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in outdoor areas, and parking is free.
