Burns Lake Public Library invites gardeners to annual seed, plant exchange

The Burns Lake Public Library is set to become a buzzing hub for gardeners, growers and green thumbs later this month.

The annual Burns Lake & District Seed Swap, Plant Share & Social returns to the library’s multi-purpose room on April 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The gathering will give the community a chance to connect and discuss gardening successes and challenges in the northern climate.

Attendees are encouraged to bring extra seeds or plants to trade or donate, and those without any items are welcome to take what they need to start or expand their gardens.

“This is a great time to switch things up,” the library stated.

The library added that the event is the perfect time to pick up new seeds and help others grow their gardens and gardening skills, as well as contribute to its year-round seed library.

The seed library allows residents to “check out” seeds for free during the planting season. Participants then return saved seeds from their best plants to replenish the library in the fall.

Snacks, coffee, and tea will also be served during the event.
