After finishing the backyard of this property last week… the one with the abandoned pool. I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was still more hiding out here.
So we came back to finish the rest of the yard…
And almost immediately, we realized we missed something.
Buried under all the overgrown grass were long brick walkways running throughout the property. You could barely see them at first, but the more we cleared, the more this place started to come back to life.
At one point, this yard must have been something special.
But about halfway through the job… things took a turn.
Out of nowhere, bees started attacking us again.
We had no idea where they were coming from, and it took a while before we finally found their hive hidden high up in a tree. Let’s just say… they weren’t too happy we were there.
Despite that, we pushed through and finished the job.
And once everything was cleared, edged, and cleaned up this place looked completely different.
It’s crazy how something can be buried for so long and all it takes is a little work to bring it back.

Al, The vibration of the mower comes up from the roots and disturbs the bees. The worker/ guard bees are sent out to eliminate the threat. They are not being vicious or they would all be stinging you which emits pheromones that call other bees. They don't want to sting you because it will kill them. So if they can chase you off all the better. Did you know all the worker/ guard bees are female. You don't see the males because their are in the house sitting on the couch watching TV waiting for the women to bring them food. Then when the Queen is ready to breed the drones are called into action. What a hard life. Just keep your distance and thank God they aren't Africanized honey bees which ARE vicious. How do I know they aren't African honey bees? You are alive.
