A talk and demonstration on container gardening is scheduled at the Beach Haven Public Library on Friday, April 17, 1 p.m.

The speaker will be Deborah Cowles, who is a member of the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Ocean County and the Garden Club of LBI. Among her local projects is beautifying the gardens around the library.

Container gardening is a versatile, space-saving method for growing plants in pots, hanging baskets or planters, making it ideal for patios, balconies and small spaces. Success requires containers with ample drainage, high-quality potting mix, consistent watering and regular feeding, as nutrients leach out faster.

Cowles will also impart gardening information geared to the coastal climate.

To register, call the library at 609-492-7081.
