What do you get when you combine the breakout star of The Hangover, the troublesome state of current world affairs, and rising global food insecurity? If your answer was a self-effacing food gardening show by Zach Galifianakis, you’d be correct. The comedian-turned-green thumb has announced that he will be hosting a brand new gardening show on Netflix, aptly named This Is A Gardening Show, and from the new trailer, it’s sure to be a chaotic and heart-warming series all about the future of food production.

“If I were to offer a remedy to the human condition, it would be a garden,” Zach Galifianakis says in the newly released trailer for This Is A Gardening Show. “For human beings, and for the world itself, the only future is agrarian.”

As he, admittedly, is not an expert in the garden, he will be learning alongside the viewer, passing on valuable, accessible, and educational tools and planting tips for viewers’ own vegetable gardens. Delving into the topics of food production, cultivation, and farming processes in his signature sincere yet off-beat delivery, Zach Galifianakis talks with curious kids and eccentric experts to find a “funny, oddball celebration of the food we eat”.

“The way we get food is so perverse right now, I think it’s worth talking about it,” Zach continues. “What we’re leaving this next generation, they may have to know this stuff.”

And as to be expected, over the course of the six episodes and curiosity-led conversations with a number of charming guests, he manages share the beauty of farming.

“People have the potential in them to find beauty and happiness in all this, because I certainly have,” he says.
