hi all. i was reading about the indian pipe (Monotropa uniflora) and was wondering why it is classified as a plant and not a fungi when it is unable to photosynthesize. is it primarily because it obtains its nutrients from fungi linked to plants? is this the case for all mycoheterotrophs? i am just trying to understand the concept. apologies if it is silly.
