The city of Aspen will start essential system upgrades and ice refrigeration plant repairs to the Aspen Ice Garden this month with the aim of enhancing facility performance and ensuring long-term safety for athletes and visitors.
The facility will be fully closed starting April 11 with construction beginning April 12, according to a press release. The project is expected to run through early July.
Work will include brief periods of crane activity.
Key dates include:
April 11: Aspen Ice Garden closes
April 12: Exterior construction begins
April 22: Brief crane operations with short-term street closure nearby
April 12 – July 1: Main construction period, exterior work continues, no street closures expected
July: Facility scheduled to reopen in late July
The Aspen Ice Garden will remain closed for the duration of the construction. All regularly scheduled Aspen Ice Garden programs will move to the Aspen Recreation Center.
“The city of Aspen is taking proactive measures to minimize neighborhood impacts and keep the community informed throughout the project,” the release reads.
