My husband thought I was crazy when I told him I planted 100 tulip bulbs in our front garden bed. Could not be more pleased with how it turned out 🌷

I love tulip mania! I have plenty but now want more!!

Beautiful! May the deer remain uninterested!

    That looks great. So pretty.

My only gripe with tulips is the bloom time and the ROI on flower bed space. Compared to something like a daffodil or dahlias, I feel that I get more time with them.

I do miss the initial burst of colors they bring. What’s your plan for behind them?

I planted mine a few years ago and they all came back the next year. The year after that, only 5 survived but this year only 1 survived 😭

  5. but the bags say 4-6 inches apart… it looks so pretty. I wish I hadn’t followed instructions.

I was bummed when most of ours didn’t come back. They’re advertised as a perennial but apparently they’re pretty fussy about the climate/soil. Then the few that did bloom got eaten by squirrels after a week or two.

Personally, I would use egg cartons for uniformity.

So beautiful! I love it 🤍🌷
    What zone are you?
How long was it between planting and blooming?

They are very forgiving and apparently loved your efforts!

Yeah…. I’m totally doing this for next year!

Watch out if you have doggies:) My girlfriend’s bulldog ate one and died. I love tulips now I never buy them. The dog ate them from a neighbors tulip border like this:(

Red tulips are my favorite flowers ⚘️

They look nice, and these things do not need rich soil?

    So pretty!!!

Ok I have the dumbest question- once they are done blooming, can you plan an annual in that same place?

  15. Immediate_Ad4404

The squirrels in my neighborhood would be working shifts digging them up. I had random tulips in the middle of my front and side yard.

Looks awesome! What hardy zone are you in?

  17. ArtJunkie628

I have wild tulips that grow every spring around my yard I love them

I randomly planted tulips all over my yard and we have tons of deer. My tulips popped up already and it was amazing

  19. Squirrels would have dug up every single one of these. I thought about covering In chicken wire. Can anyone confirm if that would work?

  20. HugeLittleDogs

The squirrels eat any around here. They even steal my avocado plants if any of the seed is visible!
    Those are beautiful!

Gorgeous!!! I don’t have an in ground area like this otherwise I would 10000% be doing this. I planted my bulbs in pots, this was my first time planting tulips (my aunt brought back bulbs as a gift from her trip to Europe). They are recently starting to sprout above the soil, just little baby buds so far. I hope they make it 🤞🏼. If/once they bloom, what do I do when the blooms die off? Cut them back? Leave them alone? Dig up the bulbs and store them until next year? I’m in zone 9b-10a

So beautiful! I’ve also read you can plant two bulbs at different depths that bloom in different seasons for greater color coverage.

  23. MaxTheHobo

Those are so nice, I’ll trade you a ship for one.

  24. KickinitCountry24

When did plant them? I want to plan for next season!🥰

  25. Danger-Tits

    gardener by trade here

if critters start going after the bulbs, pour Chicken manure on top before burying. that’ll stop it

  26. MomsBored

Besides digging is there anything I would need to add? I can absolutely do this-I’m so excited. What tool do you use to dig mini shovels? I’m new to this.
