  2. I have seen wild bamboo in my area too. Never thought about harvesting the shoots.

    And that was one massive sweet potato. Too big for one meal. Congratulations.

  3. I learned something interesting about bamboo; any cuttings are essentially exact clones and have the exact same biological clock, even the clones of the clones. As such, one could every single clone, no matter where they are, or when the cuttings were taken, even if decades apart, will flower and die at the EXACT same time. As such, you could have a plant that is 150 years old, and one that is 150 days; they will both die at the same time.

  4. I wish there was some bamboo in this area and not just for the young shoots but the mature stems as they make excellent trellises and lots of other things and when no longer useful can be composted or used as fuel for a cooking fire.
