This orchid was a gift from a friend. I repotted and discovered a few rotted roots, and what looked like the beginning of stem rot. It also had a leaf that had either a fungal/bacterial infection, and had to cut it off.

I thought it was going to die. But after doctoring it, repotting in fresh media, upping the humidity with a humidifier, and following a cautious watering/fertilizing protocol… I found this little root!

I can't tell you how excited I am by such a little feat.

Quick question: should I mist the root, or just allow the higher humidity to do it's thing?

I don’t think misting does much good, and you run the risk of getting water in the crown. This little guy is getting what it needs from the established roots and from the leaves. It’s a gorgeous healthy green because of the current conditions. I think you should trust that it’s happy and let it be. And remember, too much humidity leads to rot.

It’s going to make a little root! I’m not sure about misting or not. I tend towards do not disturb. Anytime mine die its usually from over loving on them.
