As spring is coming around, many might want to get out in the garden more – or try and grow their own vegetables for the first time. Luckily for shoppers, there’s a popular kit on offer that’s less than £25 and has received high praise from buyers.

The Garden Pack Grow Your Own Seed Box – 70 Varieties is currently available from Amazon for £24.99, and more than 1,000 have been bought in the past month. This is described as the ‘ideal starter kit for the budding gardener’.

It comes with a range of vegetable seeds, gardening gloves and detailed growing instructions, making it easy to get started. The brand says its seeds are double quality checked and non-GMO, and everything is packaged in a deluxe wooden box.

With 50 different vegetable plants, 15 types of herb plants and five varieties of flowers, each shopper will receive more than 50,000 seeds in total, the listing says. The brand says it offers a ‘complete market garden, all from one box’.

As an alternative, Argos has the Whitefurze Kids Propagator Cover & Seed Tray Set for £5. This is described as a kids’ propagator set that’s ‘ideal for growing vegetables and herbs at home’. It’s compact in size and fits easily on windowsills.

Or at Yimbly, an online marketplace owned by this site’s parent company Reach PLC, there’s the VegTrug Medium Classic Greenhouse Frame & Multi-cover Set for £79.99, down from £99.99. This essential gardening kit ensures optimal growth by maintaining a warm environment in colder temperatures, the site says.

Returning to the Garden Pack Grow Your Own Seed Box – 70 Varieties on Amazon, shoppers have left an overall average rating of 4.6 out of five, from more than 2,000 reviews. One said: “Amazing product, excellent variety of seeds. Bought for my mum’s birthday to use on her allotment and she loved it, beautiful wooden box to reuse for other purchases.”

Another said: “Great value. Makes a lovely gift.” While a third simply added: “Great variety of seeds. Magic.”

Others left some feedback for the product, with one writing: “A good range of seeds, unfortunately no tomatoes even though there were supposed to be.” Another said: “Nice box but a little disappointed as the ‘what’s included’ is very misleading. On one of the pictures of contents, it says 55 varieties of veg, which includes tomato seeds. There are no tomatoes in the box!”
