so, these are photos of why I am against pupping cream. in the photos you'll see forced pups, natural pups, and damage done by pupping cream.
pics 1 and 2, hulk balls. 1 is the forced one, 2 are all the natural ones, one is already stacking! 3 and 4 show a tbm-b, 3 is the forced, 4 is the natural. 5 and 6, natural pups that started back in Jan. 7 and 8, forced ones I started in Jan on some perus. they appear to have stalled, or at least, slowed growth down a ton. after that, natural pups that popped a few weeks ago, almost as large as the forced ones from Jan. the last images are sites where I attempted to force pups. as you can see, damaged areoles that possibly may never pup again now.
so this is where the study concludes for now, but I will be eventually chopping those perus above the pups, and see if they start pumping. if they do, pupping cream could be a possible thing to use when prepping to chop, to get a pup emerging before you even chop. versus waiting for the cactus to take months to figure out it needs new tips.
I hope all this helps some of you along your journey, and that you now know a little more about 6-BAP, the hormone used to induce branching, or pupping.
btw, best method I have found for getting pups to pop like crazy, high nitrogen feedings with kelp extract. I basically try to give them auxins which naturally promote rooting and branching, and high nitrogen to mimic piss tek.

You know what I don’t like? Its called a cream but its an ointment. I think if it were a tincture it wouldn’t damage your cacti but not sure how well it would work.
Yeah, I’ve had no luck with the pupping stuff either. I’ve went heavy I went light and nothing but damaged areoles. I’ve yet to give an offering to the piss gods yet, but I may just try it.
