Hi guys, need your help. Does this look like 18 tons of crush and run? It was just delivered and the pile is 15’l at the very edge, 7’w and 3 feet high. It was dropped off, so we didn’t see the truck, but we were expecting much more. I know it would be just a guess but looking for opinions. It was $650 delivered. Thanks in advance.

To me that looks like 6 yards maybe a little more. a yard of crushed stone weighs between 2400-2900 pounds depending on how much fines is mixed in. So that could be 18,000 pounds but not 18 tons which would be 36,000 pounds. by my estimation you have about half of what you paid for. I drove a front and loader dispensing bulk material for several years so my estimation shouldn’t be too far off.

No way. I’d say 4-6 tons. Looks like a mason dump load. 18 tons would be more like a tri-axle load.
18 tons? Absolutely not. A standard dump truck holds about 20 tons. So if you didn’t get a full, or almost completely full dump truck, you got shorted.
Looks like a lot less to me. There should be a slip/receipt along with drop off that shows weight from the quarry though. Although I’m sure some places keep a bit of stone in stock, anyone who moves volume will buy directly from the quarry and they’ll have a slip showing what was loaded.
That’s approximately 4 cubic yards, I’d put that at 5 tons, tops. Call your guy, be polite and ask for the scale ticket.

Ask for a receipt . Rock quarry’s give receipts with the weight on them
7-8 ton ish. Id guess. Might be back for another load? Maybe hes just running it to you in a single axle or something
Looks like about 3 cubic metres, so about 4.5-5 tonnes. Maybe less.

18 tons is around 12 yards. It looks close… maybe a little light, but I can’t tell because the wheelbarrow isn’t close enough to the pile for scale.
A 10-wheel dump truck holds about 12-13 yards. In my many years of buying and hauling aggregate, I can tell you the pile always looks smaller than you expect
Edit- your wheelbarrow is going to hold about 4cubic feet, the pile should yield about 80 wheelbarrow loads
