So a while ago I posted some “ miracle plants”( alocasia and a syngonium ) that popped up in a massive succulent pot in mums backyard. I had to get them out today though coz the succulent stem was starting to push them….anyway I pretty much know nothing about alocacias but was wondering if 1- it should look like this ? And 2- should I have its corm under water? I was after a quick answer for the corm so I can remove it from the plant and water or whatever? I’m just not sure I ever remember seeing anyone’s pics of an alocasia stem like this? Coz if not, I imagine the stem has grown from a corm at the bottom of the huge pot coz that pot was filled with dirt and succlent repotted in there months before these 2 plants popped up lol.

  1. They both look very healthy. Alocasia like a more airy mix that still retains a decent amount of moisture. They also do not like to dry out like a succulent.

Depending on what you have available, and if they’re going to be growing outside or inside, I can recommend different substrate components.

What types of potting mix do you have around? Anything like perlite, orchid bark or maybe pumice?

They look healthy and good. All well enough to plant in soil, they all seem to have established roots.
