Hey All,

Looking for some help / advise.

Been 2 weeks since I removed a tree in the bare soil area. Rotorvated it, aerated with garden fork, put new top soil down and compost. Tried to level as best as I could then over seeded, with shade resistant seed.

Can see I have some growth in the bare patch area but still it’s hardly anything. Even the patches in the established grass do not seem to be filling up.

Do I need to give it a few more weeks or anything I can do over the Easter weekend to help it along?

Thanks!

  1. Soil temp is probably still quite low. I planted a lawn infill a month ago and it’s only just started sprouting.

The photos look pretty good to me!

Grass needs the soil temperature to be over 10c, to grow at normal rate. Its early, it will just be slow

Soil temp is too low. March can just about get warm enough if the rain holds off but rain just destroys ground temp. Mid to late April will have far better results.

Grass seed will just rot if you overseed too early. I won’t be doing mine for at least another couple of weeks I should think.

You need to be giving it 5-10mins of a light spraying twice a day for 10-14 days to get good germination rates.

The weather is still a bit temperamental. Soil is too cold so the seed might be staying dormant. Give it more time.
