BEAUMONT — Beaumont City Council will consider approving a five year lease agreement with the South End Charlton-Pollard Greater Historic Community Association to start a community garden on city-owned lots along Irving Avenue.
The goal is to promote healthy lifestyles and increase access to fresh produce while continuing to allow the community to use the property.

REQUESTED ACTION: Council consider a Resolution to approve a Lease Agreement with the South End Charlton-Pollard Greater Historic Community Association to establish a community garden on city-owned lots located just south of 2060 Irving Avenue.
BACKGROUND
City Council is requested to consider approval of a lease agreement that allows the South End Charlton-Pollard Greater Historic Community Association to operate and maintain a community garden on City-owned property. The agreement is intended to provide a public purpose by encouraging community engagement, promoting healthy lifestyles, and increasing access to fresh produce for residents in the surrounding area while continuing to allow community use of cityowned property.
The term of the proposed lease is five (5) years, with the option to renew for up to two (2) additional one-year terms upon mutual agreement. The annual lease fee is $10.00, payable each calendar year. The Lessee is responsible for all maintenance, labor, and material costs associated with operations of the community garden, including monthly water and garbage services.
