MT. PLEASANT, Mich. (WJRT) – Mt. Pleasant residents can rent garden plots at Horizon Park Community Garden this summer to grow their own fruits and vegetables.

The city is offering 15 garden plots measuring 4 feet by 8 feet at the community garden located at 1535 Sweeney Street, according to the press release. Each plot costs $30 for the summer season, with fees due May 5.

Registration for the garden plots runs through May 4. If more than 15 people sign up, the city will hold a lottery drawing on May 5 to determine who gets the plots.

Only one plot is allowed per household. Residents can apply by completing an application form or registering through the city’s online portal.

All online registrations will be placed on a waitlist while staff assigns members to available plots. Members will receive email notifications and can pay their plot fee once they receive their assignment.
