A new community garden is set to be created in Burnham-On-Sea, with local residents being invited to help shape the project over the coming weeks.

The initiative, led by the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Green Team CIO, aims to transform a site at Crosses Penn next to Manor Gardens into a shared space for gardening, relaxation and community activity.

The group says the garden will be open to all and managed collectively by volunteers.

A spokesperson said the project will create “a welcoming, peaceful space for people to come together, grow plants and enjoy being outdoors.”

“Work to establish the garden will begin in May, with community working days planned to prepare the site.”

“The design includes raised beds, benches, fruit trees, hedging, water butts, a compost heap and a small shed.”

The Green Team is appealing for sponsors to help fund benches and two wheelchair‑accessible raised beds, and is encouraging volunteers to join the working sessions.
