This is my third year trying to revive this yard and nothing has worked. I have (not) tested the soil but at this point I’m thinking extreme action. Before I scalp it all and lay down sod any and all recommendations and tips are welcome and appreciated thank you all fellow home owners!

I’m in the same area with a similar looking lawn. I don’t have any good suggestions or experience, but my plan is to aerate, top dress with a good mix, lay down Black Beauty Dense Shade seed, and potentially add peat moss on top. Then water twice a day for a few weeks.

    I’ll report back!

Good news is you don’t have that much weed – that’s a good start.

Probably dethatch, aereate, seed and water every morning for 20-30 minutes. After that just be patient.

Salvageable. You have Bermuda and all you need is ferilizer and more water.

Start with a pre emergent to prevent weeds.

    Add a slow release fertlizer.

Apply weed killer for southern lawn.

Rest is watering. Twice a week and deep. 1 inch per week so .5 inch per each watering. Get a can or cup and time how long it takes to get .5 inch.

After a month or two you can go with a fast realease ferlizer like ammonium sulfate 20-0-0 or something with N-0-K.

My guess is that you’re not watering the lawn enough during summer. Heat stress and doesn’t recover in the fall.

I’m in DFW as well. How much sun does that part of the yard get? I see a decent size tree in one picture.

What area of DFW. The soil can change by the block you live on. That’s why they have foundation issues up there. If you have clay in your soil, it’s hogging any moisture you put down. You might need to get earth worms to aerate. Also, anything you do decide to grow will need to only be cut when it is thick. If you over mow, it will never grow.
