The bank holiday weekend is the perfect time to tidy up the garden and that includes cleaning patios, driveways and decking. They’re often green with mould, lichen and algae after the winter and need blitzing with a high-powered jet washer.

However, shoppers say Wet & Forget Multi-Surface Outdoor Cleaner is just as effective and incredibly easy to use – with no scrubbing needed. There’s almost a third off a 2L tub that covers up to 120sqm, now £14.99 on Amazon.

The ‘miracle’ cleaning solution gets five stars from more than 17,500 customers, with thousands buying it in the past month. “So easy and so much better than a pressure washer. Can’t recommend it enough,” wrote one.

Simply dilute in a 1:5 ratio, apply to any outdoor surface, then let Wet & Forget work its magic. Allow it to sit for a day or so, depending on the level of cleaning needed, before rinsing with a garden hose or letting the rain do the job for you.

The pet-friendly, non-bleach formula can be used on roofs, bricks, stone pavers, concrete, tarmac, artificial grass, decking and more, reports Teesside Live. “Such a great product, easy to use – you just fill with water as per instructions and spray and leave. The end,” said one happy customer.

If you’re looking for alternatives, Spear and Jackson’s Path & Patio Cleaner costs £13.99 for 5L at B&Q. The concentrate claims to be brilliant for getting rid of lichen on tarmac and removing mould and algae on patio slabs and the garden path.

Or the Resolva patio cleaner and weedkiller bundle costs £13.98 at Yimbly. It contains 1L Resolva Patio Power Clean, which removes green algae, mould and black spots without scrubbing, plus 1L Resolva Path & Drive Weedkiller, which targets weeds and moss on hard surfaces and biodegrades in soil.

However, Wet & Forget has been bought by over 27,000 Amazon customers, who’ve given it an impressive overall rating of 4.4 stars. One said: “I honestly cannot fault it. No weird residue, no strong lingering smell, no damage to surrounding areas. It just quietly works.”

Another added: “We have a concrete driveway mostly in the shade all day and yes it is a green petri dish for algae. Used Wet & Forget and hey it’s a miracle no more green even 10 months on! Can’t recommend this too much.”
