The Coweta Master Gardeners will host their 2026 Spring Garden Tour on Saturday, May 9, offering residents a chance to explore five distinct local landscapes while supporting community education efforts.
The self-guided tour will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature a mix of historic, residential and educational garden spaces across Coweta County. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance, with no day-of sales available.
Among the featured stops is Dunaway Gardens, a historic 22-acre site originally developed as both a public rock garden and a training ground for theatrical productions. The property includes walking paths, pools, bridges and a 700-seat rock amphitheater that has hosted performances and events for decades.
The tour also includes the Best Garden, a residential property designed around its natural woodland setting. The space incorporates elements such as a dry creek bed, sunken rose gardens and a series of themed garden “rooms” featuring plants like azaleas, camellias and hydrangeas.
At the Jones Family Garden, visitors will see a landscape shaped by recovery following the 2021 EF4 tornado. Once shaded by mature trees, the property transitioned into a full-sun garden, now filled with a variety of flowering plants and contributions from friends and family.
The Inspiration Garden, maintained by Master Gardener Extension volunteers, serves as an educational space demonstrating horticultural practices, including the use of native and pollinator-friendly plants suited to the region.
Rounding out the tour is the James E. McGuffey Nature Center and Trails, which feature six trails and offer opportunities for walking, birdwatching and environmental learning.
Organizers say the annual event is designed not only to highlight the beauty and diversity of local gardens, but also to provide practical ideas and inspiration for residents looking to enhance their own outdoor spaces.
