Hey folks – ignorant home owner here.

I had landscapers do work on my flower beds a few years ago, which included planting this weeping redbud. In the years since they planted it, it sunk quite a bit. Now it’s literally in a hole, maybe 8-10” deep.

Obviously this isn’t ideal, but I’m not sure what I can do about it now.

I cut a couple of the roots that were girdling around the trunk.

Should I trim more back?

Should I fill the hole with dirt, or mulch, or leave it as-is?

Would digging it up and replanting it be riskier than leaving it alone?

I know it’s not a good situation, but I’m afraid I’m just going to make it worse somehow.
