Saundra’s Pound Cake Recipe: https://www.patreon.com/posts/154495830?pr=true

I have a massive problem—I’ve officially run out of garden space at Sheraton Park Farms before the season has even truly begun! While I scramble to fit the last of the spinach in the dirt, Saundra is finally revealing her famous pound cake recipe that everyone has been asking for.

In this update, we are balancing the chaos of spring garden planning with some much-needed homestead baking. I’m out in the field trying to get our sweet corn, radishes, beets, and carrots in the ground, but I’ve hit a wall. Managing crop rotation and high-density planting is vital for self-reliance, but even with the best planning, sometimes you just run out of dirt.

While I navigate the space crisis, Saundra is taking over the kitchen to share the Southern pound cake recipe that became a fan-favorite after Andy and Meagan’s visit to the farm. She’s walking you through her exact from-scratch baking methods and the secret to getting that perfect homemade texture. Whether you are here for the vegetable gardening tips or the best dessert recipe, this video covers the highs and lows of farm life.

Today on the farm, we split up and tackled two very different—but equally important—jobs.

Out in the garden, Chuck is planting a wide variety of crops including sweet corn, radishes, beets, carrots, and spinach. But there’s a problem… we’re already running out of space—and it’s still early in the growing season.

This raises an important question for small farms and homesteads: how do you manage limited garden space while trying to grow enough food for your family?

Meanwhile, inside the kitchen, Saundra is making her famous homemade pound cake—a recipe many of you have been asking for ever since Andy and Meagan visited the farm.

In this video, she walks through her full process, sharing the ingredients, techniques, and tips that make this classic dessert so good.

From garden planning and food production to from-scratch cooking and baking, this is what real life on a working farm looks like.

While I’m out here fighting for every square inch of dirt to fit the sweet corn, radishes, beets, carrots, and spinach, Saundra is keeping things much more organized (and delicious) in the kitchen.

I’m curious—are you running out of garden space as fast as I am this year, or are you strictly in "baking mode" until the weather settles? Let’s talk about it in the comments! 👇
