Northern VA, USA. Long story short…
-Moved in a year ago.
-Lawn was shit, so I spring-seeded in ‘25 (no pre-emergent). Bad move, it didn’t take.
-spent the summer killing tonnes of spurge, crabgrass, nimblewill and sedge.
-in September, I put down 15 yards of 50-50, and re-seeded with 150 pounds of Twin City Tall Fescue.
-This spring, I had a sprinkler system installed.
-a month ago, I sprayed Prodiamine (Pre-emergent), Speedzone and Tenacity.
But Poa Annua has been merciless. ChatGPT tells me that this growth is from germination last fall.
How the hell do I get rid of this hell-weed and keep it gone!??!?
Thanks boys, for any advice.

You’re going to have to stop fall seeding and do pre emergents in the fall

(This was taken from my roof, the same area, on Sept 1)
Mow high this season as the competing grass (TTTF) will “choke” it out. I seeded with Twin City’s After Dark blend this past fall, but I also put down some pre-emergent down (prodiamine) about 4 weeks before putting down the seed. I think you can spray Tenacity around Memorial Day but that’s it for treatment for the rest of the year otherwise you’ll overdo it. Poa annua germinates in the fall so yeah, that would’ve been the best time to hit it with Tenacity. Best of luck!
I dug it all up. Hard work but worth it in the end
You can’t beat poa… but velocity from nufarm works on it. But it will always come back.
