Making compost for the first time. This is 2 weeks old. 32 gallon trash bin with 5 larger holes in the bottom and 16 holes in the sides. Started by putting 2 shovels worth Black Cow, leaves and grass clippings and food scraps. Each day I will throw in my food scraps (egg shells, banana peels, veggie scraps) and then will grab a handful of brown leaves and break them up and throw them on top. I mix it twice a week and have been peeing in it once a day. The weather is mostly around 30-40 degrees f at night and during the day it gets to 75-80 degrees f.

Am I doing this right? And are there any more tips I can receive that will give me some amazing compost? Thanks!

I have 2 – 32 gallon trash cans like this. They make compost fast. I think you are on the right track but I fill mine up. 3 quarters full or more with loads of browns, leaves and cardboard and what ever greens I have. Then add kitchen scraps daily and turn it twice a week like you. It’s starts to collapse fast and you can add more material. Might want to add a little water besides your pee haha.
