I live in Illinois and am unsure if patches of my grass are dead or just dormant. My grass has always looked pretty good but I didn’t water it late in the summer during a dry spell, so I’m wondering if it’s actually dead in spots. Any thoughts?

Dead, if it was dormant all the green grass around it would be dormant too.
Dead, rake it, throw some dirt and seed on it, cover with hay to prevent bird field day. Then keep it moist for 2 weeks before lightening up on the water.
