GARDEN CITY, SC (WMBF) – A Garden City staple is celebrating 50 years of operation.
Sam’s Corner, across from the Garden City Pier on the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Waccamaw Drive, has been in operation since April 2, 1976.
Sam’s daughter, Emily Baker, spoke about the importance of the anniversary: “My dad started something that the community just loves.”
Baker, who said she has been a part of the restaurant since she was a kid, added that “It really means a lot that we still are able to be open for business 50 years later and we still have the same people.”
She also spoke about the anniversary festivities, saying that there will be meal specials, music and some merch.
“I’m hoping everyone just comes in and has a good time,” Baker said.
The anniversary celebration will run from Thursday through Sunday.
