Denver Botanic Gardens will not display tulips in the Annuals Garden until 2029 due to a tulip blight, but other garden areas will feature these flowers.

DENVER — Denver Botanic Gardens will not have tulips in its Annuals Garden for at least three years.

The Denver Botanic Gardens on York Street said its big display of tulips will not bloom until 2029 due a fungus.

“Due to a common tulip blight, there will not be any tulips in the Annuals Garden (where the big display usually is) until 2029,” the Gardens posted on social media. The Gardens said the fungal disease infects the bulb of the flower and once it’s planted it infects the soil.

Denver Botanic Gardens said there are other garden areas that have tulips including the Freyer-Newman Center along York Street, in front of the visitor center, the Water-Smart Garden, Secret Garden, Iris and Daylily Garden, and Steppe Garden.

The Gardens said this year, the large Annuals Garden is filled with daffodils, hyacinth and lilies.

“Some areas are in peak bloom now, others are just starting to bloom,” the Gardens posted. ” Daffodils are in peak bloom throughout the Gardens.”
